Job Description

General Summary:
The FP&A Manager will report directly to the CFO and will work closely with the CEO and the other members of the Leadership Team to report, forecast and communicate company financial performance and actual variances from expectations. The right candidate for this single-person function will have the ability to analyze the key drivers of the business model, including customer/product profitability and other ad hoc projects. This is an excellent opportunity to make significant contributions to the success of our growing Private Equity owned company.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and Quarterly Forecasts

  • Responsible for preparing the AOP for the company in partnership with the CFO and members of the Leadership Team, including production of AOP Binder for distribution to Board and Leadership Team
  • While assumptions for P/L plans are highly dependent on inputs from business drivers, FP&A Manager must develop much of the balance sheet and cashflow statement plans with limited cross-functional support
  • Prepare revised Quarterly Forecasts for the company as the fiscal year progresses from each quarter to the next

Reporting and Data Analysis

  • Ownership of business data model; optimize chart of accounts and other reporting fields for efficiency and flexibility in reporting
  • Implement and work with a Business Intelligence Tool and Dashboard reports
  • Prepare monthly management reporting package, including plant P&Ls, and detailed customer profitability analsyes
  • Work with Sales to prepare weekly sales by product and customer reports
  • Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic initiatives
  • Analyze complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial recommendations to management for decision making purposes

Capital Expenditure (CapEx)

  • Manage the submission and financial evaluation of CapEx project submission from across the business
  • Prepare annual plan for CapEx after vetting proposals with Leadership Team members to ensure

that the most attractive investments get prioritized correctly

  • Monitor spending against approved projects on a periodic basis and advise Management should spending rise above anticipated levels
  • Evaluate the impact of new investments and prepare post-audit analysis of variances from expectations

All Other Activities

  • Subject matter expert in financial and other management reporting technology applications
  • Assist in preparation of presentations to Board of Directors and Leadership Team
  • Other ad hoc analysis and reporting as requested by Leadership Team members

  • Communication Skills: Demonstrates strong listening, written and oral communication skills


  • Bachelors degree required in Accounting or Finance, Masters Degree a plus
  • 3-5 years experience in a similar role, preferably in a process manufacturing environment.
  • Expert Excel skills; proficiency in Access, MS Word and PowerPoint
  • IT oriented with ideal experience including previous implementation of ERP systems / modules
  • Strong analytical skills; as well as verbal and written communications skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a wide variety of people assertively and confidently
