MFG Chemical Welcomes Visit from Rep. Tom Graves

Dalton, Georgia, May 24, 2012 – MFG Chemical and its staff discussed key legislative and regulatory issues affecting not only its own company but the specialty chemical industry during a site visit today with Representative Tom Graves (R-GA) at the company’s Kimberly Park plant.

MFG President Charles E. (Chuck) Gavin IV and Graves met in 2011 at the Society of Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA) Annual Washington Fly-In in Washington, DC. Gavin serves on SOCMA’s Board of Governors. Continued assistance from both SOCMA and the Dalton Chamber of Commerce resulted in today’s visit.

The tour was led by Gavin, Dave Driggers, MFG’s Vice President of Operations, and Richard Underwood, Technical Director. Accompanying Graves was his campaign manager, David Allen.

A presentation by MFG staff provided the Congressman background on MFG Chemical, LLC., and the contributions of the specialty chemical industry to the U.S. economy. The group discussed the burden overlapping regulations place on the industry, especially small chemical manufacturers. MFG also reiterated its commitment to safety and environmental concerns. And Gavin talked about the need for employee training in the Dalton area and legislation to ensure the competitiveness of U.S. chemical manufacturers.

Graves gave an overview of the economy in Georgia’s 9th Congressional District, which he has served since 2010. Graves said he sees the beginning of growth and is very optimistic about its continuation. The Congressman, who is pro-business, said he is aware of the regulatory burden on U.S. industry.

Gavin thanked the Congressman for his visit and his pro-business voting record. The tour concluded with Gavin urging the Congressman to continue his good work in Congress.
