MFG Chemical, Inc. Receives Award for Employee Training and Engagement
November 14, 2013
MFG Chemical, Inc. has been awarded a 2013 ChemStewards ® Silver Performance Improvement Award for Employee Training and Engagement. ChemStewards® is the health, environment, safety and security system of SOCMA, an international trade organization for the chemical industry.
In the past year MFG has increased its training efforts and increased the inclusion of chemical operators in decision making. Chemical operators are members of all Safety Committees, Process Hazard Analysis, and Pre-Startup Safety Review teams along with plant management, engineers and chemists.
One of MFG’s recent training events was a special class on distillation technology designed for MFG by Chattanooga State Community College; a group of operators, chemists and engineers received eight hours of lectures and laboratory training at the Wacker Institute at Chattanooga State. Also, nearly all of new operator hires are graduates of Chattanooga State’s Chemical Engineering Technology program.
