Amides are N-containing compounds derived from the reaction of an amine and fatty acid(s) or oils.
Amides can impart emulsification, lubricity and corrosion protection to a formulation. Oleic and tall oil amides will generally give better emulsification properties.
Most DIPA amides can be used to replace a DEA counterpart.
MFG Chemical amides are produced with various amines and a number of fatty acids, giving the formulator a choice to meet their needs.
AMIDE OF DIPA (Diisopropanolamine)
1:1 Amide of DIPA and Tall oil
Appearance: Clear amber liquid
Amine Value: >75 mg KOH/g
pH5% aq. 9.0 – 10.5
Acid Value: <10 mg KOH/g
APPLICATIONS: Used in metalworking formulations for coolants (soluble oils, semi-synthetics, synthetics), drawing & stamping and corrosion inhibitors. Aids in the formation and stabilization of emulsions. Imparts corrosion protection.
